About Global Service Foundation

Global Service Foundation (GSF) is a volunteer-run nonprofit founded March 2000, in order to address and begin resolving the problems of poverty and hunger in our world. This effort takes place in both the U.S. and abroad. In addition to serving others, we are always searching for and training dedicated volunteers to assist with various levels of our work. This aspect of our organization is equally as exciting as helping the materially needy because it intrinsically shares the opportunity of sharing itself! Thus the entire process is perpetuated by instilling the desire to do good for others into others.

To develop a fully holistic program, Global Service Foundation aims to provide a hand up rather than just a hand out. For example, our Farm Assistance project helps rural farmers manage resources by assisting with the rental of land, buying seed and hiring help. Once the crops come in, we buy as much of the grains and produce as possible to use for our free food distribution projects. Food for the Masses programs provide direct food relief to tens of thousands daily in rural areas during times of disaster and most need. We are moving toward a steady Daily Food Program in eight locations distributing meals in more than three states in India.

To feed over one thousand individuals every day is but one small step in the slow walk from desperate poverty. In addition to our food distribution programs, we have launched efforts to aid with emergency flood relief in West Bengal and establishing a medical dispensary center in Uttar Pradesh. By blending both health and basic literacy education programs with Cross Cultural Training of International Volunteers we bring our efforts full circle to establish self sufficiency in the homes of countless families.
